These words are at the very heart of what the Gallup Church of Christ believes and practices. We are a family brought together by the love of God and our common faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.
We bear the name of Christ because it is in Him and through Him that we have our being. We have found salvation in Him, through the blood He shed on the cross and through the power of His resurrection. We are disciples of Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is the model for our living and being. We are His church, His people, His body. We belong to no other, and so it is by His name we are known.
The Gallup Church of Christ believes passionately in the Bible as the inspired, authoritative, and timeless Word of God. We derive our beliefs and practices from what Scripture teaches.
We gather for worship on each first day of the week, on Sundays. Our worship is simple, yet reverent, directed at God first and foremost, and centered on our Lord Jesus Christ and his triumph over the grave and the penalty of sin. Our worship consists of singing, lifting our voices as one, free of mechanical instruments or anything beyond the beautiful voices with which God has blessed us. In our worship, we read God's Word and have it expounded to us by men devoted in their study. In our worship, we offer prayers to God. In our worship, we share in communal remembrance of Jesus' death on the cross and on his resurrection from the grave. Each Sunday, every believer who has been washed in the waters of baptism, shares in the Lord's Supper, partaking of the bread that reminds one of the body of Christ that was given up for man, and of the fruit off the vine that reminds one of Christ's shed blood. In our worship, it is men that take the lead, directing the various acts of worship, for it is the male whom God has directed to be the spiritual leader of the church and home.
Our fellowship together involves much more than worship. We care for one another as brothers and sisters, looking to encourage each other and to provide for each other in times of need. We work together to share Christ's love to the community around us and to the world beyond.
All people are called to enjoy the grace of God found in Christ Jesus and the fellowship of the church he founded. The Gospel calls all people to hear the Word of God and to believe what is says of God and man and to believe in Jesus. The Gospel calls all people to repentance, a marked and purposeful change in one's life, from living for self to living for Christ. The Gospel calls all people to confession, a declaration that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind, that he died on the cross for the sins of humanity and has risen as Lord and God. The Gospel calls all people to baptism, to be immersed in water in the name of Jesus Christ, dying to self and being raised to new life, for the forgiveness of sins and for the gift of God's Holy Spirit, who lives within the believer. The Gospel calls all people to live a faithful life, obeying the Word of God in all matters and making Jesus Christ the pattern for life.
